Every site needs a place to live on the internet. Once built your site is placed on a server which is connected to the internet and can then be found by the world.
What type of hosting to i need?
Depending on what programming langiage your site is written in you will either need a Unix/Linux hosting package or a Windows hosting package. Sites written in standard HTML and CSS can be hosted on either, sites written in ASP need a Windows server and sites written in PHP can be hosted on Linux or Windows.
Another consideration is whether your site is static or dynamic and requires a database.
Who manages your server?
Most of our websites are hosted on a dedicated server with Rackspace who are the biggest server management company in the UK and USA. They offer a genuine 24/7 technical support guarantee and a massive infrastructure ensuring your website is online 365 days a week.
What about shared hosting?
We also offer our clients the opportunity to be hosted on a shared server with a well known UK provider. This has the benefit of being lower in cost than our dedicated server. The only disadvantage is that the provider is only contactable during office hours so if you need 24/7 support we always reccommend hosting on our dedicated box.
What about databases?
Whether you need MSSQL or MYSQL we have access to the latest versions of both of these industry standard databases.
What about backups?
We perform daily backups on all our servers so should the server suffer a catestrophic failure you can be rest assured that your website and database are safe.
